Extended Family Porch Session in Orange County by Lana Tavares, 222 Photography

Amanda and her family were saying "goodbye" to their home of 37 years, and as a final farewell, they decided to commemorate this bittersweet milestone with a Porch Session.

Amanda reached out just a week before, and with us being fully booked until July, I knew the only day I could possibly make work would be Memorial Day. Moe wasn't too happy about me working, but hey--JUST LOOK AT THESEEEEE!!

I showed up about twenty minutes early to walk the property and immediately, I fell in love.

Amanda and I worked together to formulate a timeline. She listed all the areas she wanted to photograph, but left it up to me for creative direction. I organized the Session/locations around the timing of the sun in order to optimize the hour that we had together.

This was the family's greenhouse, and a personal favorite of mine. I loved the way the sun's setting brought remarkable light through it's windows. Also, for someone with this black of a thumb, I've always wanted a greenhouse, something about them always feels so mystifying to me. With that said, a big part of me was most excited to shoot Grandma & Grandpa inside of it.

This ENTIRE place was absolutely magical, and honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better Session. With Extended Family Porch Sessions, an hour can go by very quickly, especially when you have such a large estate to work with, but I've got to say--we did pretty well for ourselves.

And obviously--no detail goes unnoticed.

I think the greatest thing about this Session was the clear-cut vision they had. They assured (and reassured) me that they didn't want to take away from my creativity, but I also really enjoy when Clients have a "must-have" list to work with, especially when there enough time to input my own vision and style into it. With that said, there's no way we could've done this in 30 minutes.

It was a bittersweet day for everyone, and I am so incredibly grateful to have been able to capture it for them. Good luck, guys--thank you again for allowing me to document this moment for you, it was an honor.
